The vision and dream for such a church as SpringWell came to Pastor Scott McAlister after much prayer and deliberation. While Pastor of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Greer, Scott and his wife Karen, felt a strong calling from God to begin a new work using innovative methodology to reach the unchurched, yet standing upon solid biblical principles. The vision was to be well balanced between evangelism and discipleship. It was to be a church with a purpose for helping people to be the best that they can be through the enabling work and power of the Holy Spirit.

With the intent not to hinder the work of the traditional church, on July 9, 1995, Scott embarked on a new journey to, in his words, “dig a new well” (Gen.26:17-33).

Scott had several supporters help him begin the new work that today is called SpringWell Church. Our prayer was that we will keep our eyes firmly fixed upon Jesus with the purpose of exalting God and making disciples of all who will choose to follow Him.

The first meeting of SpringWell Church was held on July 23, 1995, in the home of Tim & Sendy Howard. With an overflow attendance of fifty-eight people that first Sunday, SpringWell quickly moved the following week to Ladies Health and Fitness, located on Hwy 29 in Greer, SC. God continued to smile upon SpringWell with fresh new faces each Sunday making it necessary to seek yet a larger facility. On September 10, 1995, the church moved once more to the Starlite Ballroom located on 108 Trade Street in Greer. 

SpringWell Church grew quickly and after a couple more moves to local schools, in 2001 the church was able to aquire the Wade Hampton Boulevard property where they are now located. 

We have seen many people's lives changed through the ministries at SpringWell Church.  We thank God for continuing to use us in this part of Greenville and the surrounding areas!
