What is Fasting?
The purpose of fasting is to increase our appetite for God. As a fully devoted disciple of Jesus Christ, there is an expectation we will include this spiritual discipline as part of our lives. In Matthew 6:16, Jesus said, "When you fast"; He had an assumption we would be fasting.
Fasting is all about removing something from our lives so we can get closer to God. Most often fasting involves food but we can fast other things as well. We can fast entertainment, data (i.e. texting, Facebook, the internet), caffeine, or anything that distracts us from God.
SpringWell is asking our entire church family to join us in a unified group fast Jan. 9-29, 2012. This fast will end on Sunday evening as we come together for an "APEX" worship service at 5pm on Jan. 29th.
